Article Marketing Values: Why You Should Educate Your Readers

November 8th, 2008 by admin

Publishing articles online for promotional purposes is nothing new. What’s new is the amount of attention it gets.

Article marketing has entered the mainstream over the past couple of years — and for good reason, given all the benefits it can bring. But before you start

cranking out a slew of articles in hopes of endless web traffic and sales, stop to consider the purpose of writing articles in the first place.

Article Marketing vs. Article Writing

The purpose of article marketing is to increase your website traffic, improve your search engine ranking, and position you as an authority in your field.

The purpose of article writing is to educate or enlighten your readers. Don’t confuse these two purposes.

If you write articles to help your readers, all the benefits of article marketing will come soon enough. But if you fail to give readers something of value in your articles, and you’ll waste your time and theirs.

What to Avoid

First-time article marketers often try to churn out as many articles as possible. While quantity does help, you should never put it before quality.

Regurgitating what’s been written before is the path of the lazy writer. Take the higher road. Offer a new interpretation on your subject matter. Dig deep for the real article. Make it helpful. Make it insightful.

* If you write truly helpful articles…

* If you answer your readers’ questions…

* If you write to educate…

The benefits will come:

* Your articles will be published in more places.

* Your articles will be read by more people.

* Your readers will be more likely to respond.

Write to Educate

Picture the smiles on your readers’ faces when they find the exact information they’ve been searching for. Imagine how inclined they would be to take the action you want them to take. The more unique and helpful your articles, the more distribution they’ll earn. The two are directly proportionate.

Good luck, and good writing!

Article Marketing To Boost Site Traffic

October 28th, 2008 by admin

You’ve been writing great articles for your website or blog, keyword rich, insightful pieces that should be studied in marketing classes. You’ve probably seen an increase in site traffic since you started writing using SEO. But there’s another way to use the articles that you’re already writing to boost traffic even more.
Publish them on other sites.
It’s simple math. Your site receives 200 hits a day. Site B receives 500. If you get an article published on Site B, your site and marketing links are exposed to 700 people.
Unfortunately, this can be easier said than done. You have to convince the editor or webmaster of Site B that your article is more worthy of publication than Joe Schmoe’s about the same subject. If you think you can, then you are all set to start your very own article marketing campaign and boost traffic to your site. Here’re some hints to sell articles for your article marketing campaign.
ARTICLE MARKETING STARTS WITH THE E-MAIL TO A PUBLISHER SITE
E-mail has become one of those quick forms of communication. We type them out real quick, using the first words and phrases that come to mind, and then send them off without a second thought, like leaving a voicemail. But in the case of article marketing (and everything else you use e-mail for), the e-mail is the first writing sample a buyer will read. If your e-mail is not professional and well written, there is no reason for a buyer to move onto the actual article. You will have failed the ever important first impression.
This is a failure that can be avoided by taking the time to edit the e-mail. Make sure that there are no grammatical mistakes, that your sentences make sense, and that you don’t have more words necessary. Other things like making sure the subject line is eye catching or addressing the e-mail to a specific person instead of a company or a “To Whom It May Concern” can make your article stand out in the crowd.
MARKET ARTICLES TO THE APPROPRIATE SITES
This one sounds like a no brainer, but at least now you can’t say nobody told you. Make sure that you send your articles to places that will actually publish them. This obviously applies to content (don’t send an article about high New York Society to a Mountain Climber’s website), but this also applies to style and voice and things like that. If you’re an edgy, sarcastic writer, you probably don’t want to be submitting to a serious, boring site. They simply won’t publish your article, and your article marketing campaign will be a waste.
Also, don’t just write an article and then try to get it published. This method might produce some results, but they will be few and far between and will require a lot of time and selling. Instead, write your articles with a specific site in mind. Go and read other articles on the site. Know the voice and structure of the already published articles. Review the submissions guidelines. Be familiar with policies. In the e-mail, include reasons that your article is a perfect match for their site. An article written with purpose for a specific site or group of sites will be more successful than one written without a destination in mind.
GRAMMAR, GRAMMAR, GRAMMAR
The whole point of article marketing is to convince people to click on the link to your site that you’ve included in your byline. You will lose a lot of credibility if your article is full of grammatical mistakes and poorly thought out sentences. Write several drafts of your articles. Make sure you’re saying what you mean. Once your article is perfect, have someone else read it to make sure you’re not blind. You’d be amazed what you miss in your own writing, even if you’re a professional editor. Doing this will A. Make editors more likely to accept your work and B. Give the reader the impression that you are professional, which will in turn make them try to find out what else you have to say.
REFER BACK TO YOUR OTHER ARTICLE WITH LINKS
If you can, include links in the body of your e-mail that will lead back to your site. After all, that is the entire point of article marketing. A good way to do this is to refer to an article that you’ve written in the past that is ‘coincidentally’ posted only on your website. People like more information, and if you tell them there is more on another site, chances are that they’ll go there, and you just got another hit.
Be careful not to overuse this technique. Too many links will make them commonplace and readers won’t notice them. Including one or two makes them special and probably worthwhile. Also, don’t link to irrelevant articles. Readers will just get annoyed and not browse around your site. The object of article marketing is to get people exploring your site. If they wind up at a random article, they’ll just close the window and go back to what they were reading, instead of stumbling across your affiliate marketing links.
SIGN YOUR WORK
Don’t ever forget about the signature or byline at the end of your article. This should include your name, of course, but also a link directly to your site’s homepage. You might also consider linking to a few related articles that are posted on your site. Anyone who enjoyed the article will take the time to see who wrote it and what their background or own personal ventures are, and chances are, they’ll click on the link to read more by you. The signature section is the climax of your article marketing campaign. It is where you are trying to guide readers with your article so they will see your links and visit your site and make you money. It’s that simple.

Article Marketing Tactics For Your Blog

October 2nd, 2008 by admin

At first glance, it might seem rather a strange notion, why would you want to use article marketing as a strategy to increase traffic to your weblog, which is essentially a journal? The answer is in fact in the question - to increase traffic to your blog. But, do article marketing tactics really work for blogs?

Weblogs

Given a blog is essentially an online journal that you create, one thing that you can be sure it has got is lots of high value content rich material. Given also that most blogs are far more than a personal online diary, but aimed at specific niche areas, and you start to ask yourself why article marketing tactics are not used as part of your marketing strategy! However, when you add a final element, that most bloggers are more internet savvy than other users of the internet, and the whole concept of blogger article marketing becomes a no-brainer!

Getting started

If you want to start an article marketing campaign for you blog, the first action you’ll need to do is to find around 25 - 30 topic areas in the materials on your blog that you want to convert over to form part of your article marketing strategy. Once you have identified these areas, you then need to compile article of around 200 - 500 words in length. Although this may sound like a large job, given you already have the written material, it should not be too onerous a task, more of an editing job.

Submitting the articles

Once you have the 25 - 30 articles prepared, you then need to start your article marketing campaign in earnest. To do this, you’ll need to find websites that are willing to publish the material. Before agreeing to submit an article, you should always try and check to see if exposing your article to that site will increase your blog traffic. One sure way to do that is to see how many visitors per day the website gets.

Don’t forget, in addition to the articles themselves, you will also need to make sure that each article you submit includes details of (a) your name; (b) your blog URL; (c) some details about you; and (d) some details about your weblog. Hopefully the content in your articles, with the information about you and your blog, will encourage the read to click the URL to visit your weblog. In that case, a perfect article marketing campaign has been executed.

Making sure you have a niche area

Obviously, article marketing as a strategy for your weblog is going to be far more successful if your blog is in a niche area - say snowboarding - than if your blog is merely your online journal. Therefore, as with all marketing strategies, you do need to give some consideration to making sure you have a market to target your articles at. If you do not, or if your weblog is of a generic type, then article marketing may not be the ideal marketing tool for you.

Getting results

No article marketing strategy is going to make you an overnight million. However, if you have taken the advice of the above and executed as near perfect an article marketing strategy as possible, you should find that month-on-month visitors to your weblog do increase. In turn this should help you to (a) generate more sales through your blog; (b) generate more sales on your website that is linked to your weblog; (c) increase your potential advertising sales on both your website and blog.

Article Marketing Snowballs Into A Mess

June 13th, 2008 by admin

Have you fallen for the article marketing trap? Sending out second rate articles, worrying too much about word count and ignoring all the things that would make your effort more successful?

Article marketing has swept through the internet like an avalanche. Virtually everyone knows about the technique but very few are doing it well. Many people are actually ruining their reputation by ignoring article marketing best practices.

As an article newsgroup moderator and article marketing expert I am in the trenches everyday. Increasingly, I reject more articles than I accept. More and more often I hear complaints from publishers that the articles submitted to them are pure crap. Many of these publishers complain that article submission software is to blame. I have to disagree. Here is what I think is causing the majority of problems:

* People who want to use the technique without learning how.
* Private label articles flooding the market.
* Plagiarism and copyright violations.
* Lousy articles with no redeeming values.
* Off topic articles driving publishers crazy.
* Articles that are too short or too long.
* Writers who won’t divulge their identity and only use their by-line for advertising a website.

Can you connect the dots to find out where the article marketing problems lie? With the article marketer. The article marketer, like myself, loves the technique but is often strapped for time. Instead of writing unique articles or hiring a ghostwriter to write for them they get lazy. Stupidity and carelessness is also a factor but I bet being lazy causes most of the problems.

I believe that laziness is the root of all evil in the article marketing world. Any type of marketing with not work unless effort is expended and techniques are repeated regularly and reliably. Please do me a favor. If you can’t make the effort then don’t use the technique.

Article marketing done badly is far more damaging then not using the technique at all. It only works when you create quality work and follow submission rules. Don’t blame the publishers for your shoddy articles and don’t spend hours on forums complaining that the technique doesn’t work. It does work. It has worked for me and for many others but it won’t work for you if you insist on being lazy and irresponsible.

Make a commitment today to write well, submit only on topic unique articles and to hire help if you need it. Your best efforts will be the catalyst to better results and will support the growth of the article marketing community. Let’s use the technique wisely so that it remains a viable part of internet marketing.

Article Marketing Secrets Revealed

June 4th, 2008 by admin

Use article marketing to start an internet business
especially if you do not have a budget. Most of the methods
like pay per click, ezine and banner advertising cost money
to drive traffic. The free methods like traffic exchanges,
FFA leads and classified advertising produce leads less
willing to buy. With article marketing your leads already
know you from your articles and this makes them more
qualified to buy from you as they would not have clicked
through to your website if they did not trust you.

Choose your target market and write about a topic that
interests you and that you can give expert advice on.
Brainstorm your ideas and find a topic related to your
website. You need to also specifically write for your
target audience.

Before writing your article you need to determine your
title. You need a headline that grabs attention to get the
reader’s attention. You also need to use a keyword research
tool like Wordtracker to determine the keywords you need in
your headline. You need to look for keywords searched often
and not too much competition. Once you have determined
these keywords you need to incorporate this into your your
title. Search engines will index the article on popular
directories like Ezine articles.

Write the introduction and conclusion next as this will get
your creative juices flowing. You need to bullet all the
points you would like to write about next. Expand on these
points and write them in full.

You need to proof you article once completed and check for
grammar and spelling mistakes. You can sleep on it and
check it the next day. You can also let a friend or
relative give you feedback on your article. Use a free
editor like Notetab lite to format your article into 60
characters. You can also use a feature in Notetab lite
where
you can split and join lines. This allows you to easily
remove hard returns which some article directories do not
allow.

You need to add a summary two to three sentences in length
to describe your article. You need to also choose your
keywords for your article, write a compelling resource box
where you will represent your unique selling proposition
and a call to action to visit your website or download a
free report.

Submit your articles to the most popular article
directories like Ezine articles. and you can submit to the
less popular directories to generate backlinks for your
website. Article marketing needs to be done consistently to
see traffic. Writing consistently your search engine
rankings will improve as more websites publish your
articles and you get more backlinks.

Article Marketing Is The Bridge Between You and Your Customers

May 11th, 2008 by admin

With information technology on the rise and gaining relevance in the world today, article marketing has become a significant tool to promote businesses on the Internet. While it is well-known that articles make consumers understand a product better, a well-written article can be one of the main reasons why any product sells. These days, article marketing is so advanced that it has become the foremost advertising strategy for many online businesses.

Central to the effectiveness of article marketing is the implementation of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The primary function of this form of article writing is to achieve prominent rankings on the search engines by utilizing keywords which are popular among Internet users. When a user enters a search term which is identical to your keyword, the web page of your article will be displayed as a search result. With effective SEO strategies, you can rank among the top search results and benefit from a steady flow of incoming traffic, which will ultimately lead to increased sales.

Due to the fact that SEO article writing involves a great deal of research and expertise, most website owners prefer to employ SEO experts to manage their web content. These specialized professionals will provide you keyword-rich articles that will dramatically improve the visibility of your website and win customers over with their convincing content. SEO article marketing is such a proven success in the world of online business that many website owners are willing to hire the services of top SEO experts to help them launch their businesses into greater heights of profitability.

Other than its overall contribution to the betterment of sales, article marketing also brings professionalism and prestige to your website. With comprehensive articles that offer expert information about your products, your website will be widely regarded as an authoritative entity. It will assume a position as the favored destination for consumers seeking specialized knowledge pertaining to your products. As your reputation grows, your brand will be established as a trusted name in the business and this will in turn translate to a long-term influx of web traffic.

Compared to other forms of online advertisements which incur quite a substantial amount of financial investment, article marketing is basically free advertising. Since your articles are included in the information base of search engines, they will automatically show up whenever a search term coincides with one or few of their keywords. In a way, an article is a living advertisement implemented on the Internet and it grows in recognition from time to time, without you having to pay extra for each and every appearance. Web owners who understand the full potential of article marketing will also post their articles in directories and ezines to boost their chances of drawing more visitors to their websites.

As the Internet continues to extend its influence into our livelihoods, article marketing will prevail as the most important means to distribute information, whether for a product or a mere matter of general interest. There is no website that can communicate effectively without web content, and articles are indeed the most significant bridge between webmasters and users. By adopting an elaborate article marketing strategy, you can be sure that your business will achieve new heights of success.

Article Marketing Is The Best Form Of Viral Marketing

May 9th, 2008 by admin

Article marketing is a cost-effective method of marketing your Web site and services, and driving up your search engine ranking in the process. Studies allege that Article Marketing is 7-10 times more effective strategy than regular advertising. Writing and submitting your own articlesis is equivalent to FREE ADVERTISING on the Web. In general, this form of marketing is where you write an article about a topic that is related to your websites content. This is an extremely powerfull form of advertising for your business and when mastered can literally help your business earn money on auto-pilot.

Now that you`ve heard about the Article Marketing Revolution.Your next step should be to start writing about a niche topic that your business website revolves around and a highly searched keyword. Your first entry into the world of article marketing is mastering the fundamentals, but remeber that submitting your writtings to the free directories is not a one time event, but a process. Discover user submitted websites on article marketing and related content to research just what people are writting about and what niche topics publishers and webmasters are looking for to re-print. Then take a look at marketing your affiliate programs within your authors resource box at the bottom of your article for addittional income streams . The true key to good article marketing is to remain constant and consistent. With the challenges involved with reciprocal link building, generating incoming links through this method has proven highly effective.

The viral effect of article marketing is a benefit that I love about this method of promotion. Viral marketing has its own terms like anything else, and instead of making you run around the Net trying to find linking partners, your articles will do that for you day and night automatically. Because it’s both free and viral, article marketing is obviously the most cost-effective of all advertising methods on the internet today. The benefits of “viral article marketing” can be, and very often are, extreme and immediate. A well-written, useful article will acquire hits and encourage viral marketing for years to come for your business website. Not only will the search engines find you through all the links from your articles, they will reward you with free traffic. Your consistant writing can also help you gain name recognition as an expert in your field.

How can article writing and submission be best used to generate quality traffic. You must stay consistant, try to write one article a day and submit it to as many free article directories as possible. Try to write about topics that are in your niche, or closely related to your website and your business. If your site sells umbrellas don`t write about cars! Write about umbrellas for crying out loud! Make your articles informative and always try to solve a problem that others are having.

Article Marketing is all about increasing sales and awareness. Back-links will generate long term, high quality traffic to your site and your traffic and income will grow accordingly.

Article Marketing is a win-win practice for every business owner and is simple and cost effective for any business owner.

Article Marketing and Search Engine Optimization

May 5th, 2008 by admin

Article writing have been a hot topic lately for link popularity and search engine optimization. The question always remains, does it really work? And it is sure hard to tie article marketing to specific search engine rankings. So much of our results are based on gut feelings and hunches.

I have closed to 10 sites and depends primarily on search engine optimization technique based on article marketing. I have done barely more than submit articles with links back to my site.

I anchor the links with keywords to my site and within a couple of months my first site was ranked in the top ten among (obviously) millions. This should not be a surprise if you have SEO tools like SEO Elite. Indexing normally takes 3 days after submitting the first article. No URL submission anywhere. Just articles.

Search engine rankings are improved dramatically by article marketing.

A few tips for those of you who are submitting.
1. Submit to sites with RSS feeds whom will tend to create more links on the internet than sites without RSS feeds, holding all other variables constant.
2. Always anchor your link with text. For text use the keywords you want to become number one in. And vary the keyword phrases some so you don t look to the spiders like you are using a link exchange.
3. Having a article submitter software or services does help a lot.

Article Marketing - Boost Your Link Quality and Link Popularity

May 1st, 2008 by admin

Article marketing is one of the hottest web site promotion strategies to get your message out to your target market. Did you know it also improves your link popularity and link quality? Read on to learn how these two offpage search engine optimization factors can be positively influenced by article marketing.

Search engine bots to scour the internet and index the vast number of web pages using complicated algorithms to determine the relevancy and ranking of each web site. One way to positively influence your web site ranking is through offpage search engine optimization tactics. Offpage optimization tactics focus on improving link popularity and link quality. Search engines use these two offpage optimization factors to influence your ranking. Generally speaking, link popularity refers to the number of links point back to your web site. Link quality refers to the importance of the web sites that are pointing to your website, whether the content of the site linking to you is related, and the anchor text in the back link. To improve your search engine ranking, boost your link popularity and the quality of incoming links.

Article marketing is a proven strategy for boosting your link popularity and link quality. Here is why. Each article you prepare for promotion will include a short resource box at the end of the article. This is where you should add at least one link back to your web site. Submit the article to multiple article directories and you receive a link back to your web site from each of those article directories. If other web site owners looking for content use your article on their web site, blog, newsletter or ezine, you will also get a link back from each of those sites as well. The more compelling your articles are, the more they will proliferate. As your articles proliferate, you get more back links. Think about it. This proliferation improves link popularity.

The second benefit of article marketing is to improve link quality. You can positively affect link quality through the article text and article resource box. Your article text should relate to your web site content theme and use your primary keyword phrases sparingly within the body of the article. Write articles on topics that are related to the theme of your website. If your website is about kitchen remodeling, publish articles about flooring, custom cabinets, countertops, lighting and other themes related to kitchen remodeling. Search engines will know these topics are contextually related or frequently associated with your primary theme of kitchen remodeling. You can positivly influence the quality of the links pointing to your site in the resource box at the end of each article. There are two objectives you should focus on when wrting the resource box text. First, include a catchy phrase that draws in the reader and encourage them to click through to your web site. The secondary objective of the resource box is to positively influence your link quality. This is done through the anchor text and words surrounding the anchor text. Anchor text is the text a user sees and clicks when clicking a link on a web page. Choose your anchor text wisely. It affects link quality. Vary the phrases in your anchor text to use theme related keywords and phrases. This will positively affect your search engine ranking for those keywords. As an example, if your website is about kitchen remodeling you want the anchor text to look like those below. (Note: replace the square brackets with angle brackets):

[a href='http://www.yoursite.com']Kitchen Remodeling[/a]

Not this:

[a href='http://www.yoursite.com']www.yoursite.com[/a]

To take this one step further, use a variety of anchor text phrases relevant to your most important keywords. Too many links pointing back to your site that use the same anchor text may be interpreted as spamming by the search engines. Using the above example, alter your anchor text to include other related terms such as kitchen renovation, custom cabinets, bathroom repair, interior design, etc. You get the idea. Search engines will know these topics are contextually related or frequently associated with your primary theme of kitchen remodeling. This is how you affect the link quality during your article marketing efforts.

As you can see, article marketing can improve both link popularity and link quality. Improving these two offpage optimization factors should be part of your overall strategy to improve your web site ranking and maximize organic traffic. Get on the article marketing bandwagon today.

Article Marketing & Free Publicity For Your Website

April 29th, 2008 by admin

An increasing number of website and business owners are turning toward a new approach to advertising and, best of all, it’s free. Article marketing, as it is technically known among webmasters, is achieved by translating expertise into a written article and effectively promoting it across the web. This can be achieved by the use of blogs, content directories and direct agreements with webmasters to publish your article in exchange for a link back to your website.

Article marketing is somewhat new in its technique, but is very effective if done properly. Free publicity is achieved as the article circulates more and more across the web. If you post your article to content directories, other webmasters may pick up your article and post it to their website with the only requirement being proper credit for the work. At the end of the article, the author’s name is shown, along with their business name and a direct link to their website. As the work circulates onto new sites, more customers will have the opportunity to read the article. If it is interesting and successfully grabs their attention, they will be likely to visit your site in search of more information.

The key to successful article marketing and free publicity for your website is to possess a certain amount of knowledge about your subject. Your expertise will show through in the work that you do and will entice others to want to read more. By sharing what you know with others, customers will respect you and appreciate your willingness to help. For instance, if you operate a home improvement website, perhaps you would write an article detailing some home improvement tips. Try to avoid the commonly known hints and direct your article toward lesser known tips. If you share the rare information that you know, and it works, customers will be so happy with the new tips that they have learned and your business will be given instant credentials in their mind.

The best part of article marketing is the fact that it is free and it generates free publicity for your website. Once you get a new website up and running, you will still have to find a way to spread the word about your new venture. By enlisting the article marketing technique, you will be saving a lot of money on advertising costs. Print publications and other conventional advertising methods can end up costing a bundle of cash and, since many new businesses struggle just to stay afloat in the beginning, it’s a good idea to save as much as you can.

A final thought about article marketing and free publicity for your website is to make sure that your articles are informative, thought provoking and rich in keywords relating to the topic of your website or service. The articles should reflect your website or service in some way and should always be relevant to the product that you are selling.
